In a bid to gain more widespread adoption, Twitter has decided to let its hair down and finally get an Instagram account.
Hey guys, is it cool if I come?
In an innovative attempt to think outside the Twitter-box, photos of their “what's happening” ad campaigns have debuted on Instagram. The account already has over 50K followers.
These ads aren’t just relegated to social platforms, but subways and billboards across the US.
Twitter tweets a song less recognisable
Pushing adverts into the “real-world” has garnered mixed reactions but the promotion is simple: a large stark question mark on a magenta background next to an exclamation point of equal size, against a sky blue background.
The message is clearly meant to foster conversation, ideally through the app, especially when coupled with their marketing slogan, “Questions and answers, statements and trends – it’s happening right now on Twitter all around the world.”
The branding is a reminder of what Twitter can be used for: communicating with difficult to reach people. Something world leaders have been adopting with aplomb.
