Managing Director Matt Mazzeo of Lowercase Capital recently announced the launch of Soon, a user-share app geared toward promoting virtual events.
An events calendar for the new age
Unlike other promotional platforms, Soon aims to focus toward online events such as popular television premiers, Twitch streams, live chats, Reddit AMAs, and even product pre-orders, just to name a few.
When a user opens Soon, events are presented in a card-style display informing time and location accompanied by a static image or GIF.
The user interface is designed around vibrant visual cues with quick-tap access to indicate favouring, sharing, tweeting, linking, and locating events as efficiently as possible.
Soon starts fresh
As the app relies on user-shared events, it will not be able to capitalise on a pre-existing community the way Twitter was able with Periscope or Facebook with Facebook Events.
Starting from scratch requires a sharp design to bring in early adopters. To demonstrate value, Soon relies on deep links to websites, mobile applications, and specific event pages.
Amped up visuals and the addition of audio to event information may not be for everyone, but with a pop-culture push toward high-aesthetic interfaces, this event app could be catching on…soon.
