Twitter has announced it's moving forward with 16 original live shows, thanks to funding made possible through achieving ad revenue goals.
Commercials pay for content
Last May, Twitter showcased 16 original live video shows meant to stream by the end of the year. Vox Media also bartered a deal to create original content with The Verge.
All the shows have received a greenlight due to the success of the advertisement buy-ins, with ad packages ranging from $250,000 to $500,000, according to Ad Age.
What’s old is made new
In the past, TV network productions relied on pitches made to advertisers, referred to as upfronts, which meant networks relied on advertisers’ commitments to upfronts. Now, these commitments are called newfronts.
Stay tuned to see if Twitter has stumbled on the secret sauce for funding original content while maintaining creative control..
