In a small but potentially significant step in e-commerce, Square has given $Cashtags a bunch of new features and functions.
Cashing in
$Cashtags are Square's system for accepting payments over the web.
Previously, users could direct customers to their website to make a payment. Now they can sent clients a customised URL.
The system is open for businesses, charities and individuals.
Pay per view
For example, users clicking on the link the cash.me/$RED/5 can make a $5 donation towards AIDS research.
Once the URL is received, users simply enter their credit card number, leave a comment if they wish, then click the Send button.
The $Cashtags update could help brands looking for a cheap and streamlined online payments system.
