A new study shows that millennials can’t readily recall which shows were produced by which networks. Unless of course it’s Netflix.
Forget Me Not
The Young & the Brandless report from Anatomy Media surveyed 3100 people aged 18 – 26 years. The report quizzed respondents on their media consumption and brand recognition for broadcast and over-the-top (OTT) networks, which includes Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube.
It turns out 71% of younger millennials watch content via an OTT platform, and half of these view this content exclusively on desktop or mobile.
Netflix and Chill
All this streaming is having an effect on recall. Over half (65%) of respondents correctly matched Netflix shows to the platform, while only a third (31%) could match shows with a traditional broadcaster. In this case Disney.
However it’s not all good news for OTT networks. Just 20% of millennials correctly matched shows to streaming powerhouse Amazon.
