iMessage can now settle your debts

Apple has been many things to many people over the years: innovator, disruptor, enfant terrible, bankrupt, and very, very rich.

Now Apple is adding a new feather to its cap: debt collector.

Offer you can’t refuse

No, Apple isn’t quite getting into the standover business. Rather, iMessage can now make and accept payments on your behalf.

If your friend sends you a text reminding you about that $50 you owe them for dinner last week, iMessage now suggests the Apple Pay button, loaded with the aforementioned amount.

Use the TouchID to authorise the payment, and your friend will receive the money in their Apple Pay account.

Pay to Play

The update isn’t exactly groundbreaking, but brings Apple up to speed with similar services from Messenger, PayPal, and Square Cash.
