Facebook continues to up its mobile muscle, now with the addition of video sharing.
Motion in message
Facebook Messenger now lets users instantly record and send short videos to one another. Mobile movies are created by tapping and holding down the camera button.
The feature is now available on iOS and will shortly be rolled out to Android.
Snapchat homage?
The update comes as Facebook steadily beefs up Messenger. In April the app got a split-screen 'selfie' camera, and now video messages brings it one step closer to the app Facebook is apparently obsessed with – Snapchat.
Facebook must now strike a balance between keeping Messenger's 200 million users happy, and making their soon to launch Snapchat clone Slingshot unique enough to bother with.
