Facebook has offered a sneak peek into how the next generation of mobile ads might look and function.
Lion's share
According to ReCode, Facebook previewed mockups of its new mobile immersive ad feature to marketing executives at the recent Cannes Lions advertising festival in France.
Facebook chief product office Chris Cox explained that mobile ads on the platform could eventually give users full control to manipulate content such as videos, photos and GIFs.
This customisation will essentially give brands the ability to create bespoke versions of their ads and websites for individual users.
Here's a video showing how the ads might work.
Mobile money machine
While the preview remains a work in progress, it does offer some hints into how the multi-billion mobile ad industry is evolving.
With 73% of Facebook's revenue coming from mobile ads in the last quarter, every brand should be mobile ready – for today and tomorrow.
