Facebook's “Did You Know?” section, asking users to share innocuous personal facts, recently deleted the prompt “I usually sleep with…” from its questionnaire.
How does one answer?
Continuing its quest to create a more intimate user experience, Facebook had been offering certain members an eye-catching, and oddly inquisitive pop-up.
The vague wording with accompanying ellipsis has spurred many users and critics to wonder if Facebook is inquiring as to what accoutrements people sleep with. or whom people sleep with.
Couched in the context
Facebook’s “Did you know?” section is populated with personal details rather than simple factoids, such as “The time I went through a tough time was…” and “if I could change one thing about my significant other it would be…”
The pop-up has been removed, but the question remains if Facebook was overstepping or fulfilling its promise on a more intimate atmosphere.
Perhaps Facebook needs a new plan of attack – and a cold shower.
