The Commonwealth Bank’s Facebook page has celebrated its first anniversary by passing another milestone, having 100,000 fans on the social networking site.
Prizes a winning formula for fans
Since its launch last year, CommBank has used its Facebook page as a hub for a series of social campaigns such as Community Seeds, where fans were invited to give away over $125,000 of the bank’s money to community groups, and Centenary Time Vault, where fans could win cash in a treasure hunt.
In December the bank launched the Kaching iPhone application, which allows customers to pay each other via Facebook.
Facebooking the music
CommBank also uses its Facebook page to respond to customer queries on its wall in real time, and the page recently reached an audience engagement rate of over 20%, one of the highest for any Facebook page globally.
Doubling digital spend
CommBank’s Chief Marketing and Online Officer Andy Lark recently announced a doubling in digital media and advertising spend for 2012, with the bank's Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages slated to play an integral role in upcoming campaigns.
In terms of Facebook popularity, the next closest Australian financial institution is CUA with 89,253 Facebook fans, followed by UBank with 11,337 Facebook fans.
