US e-commerce site Bigcommerce will soon offer its business users access to shoppable Instagram posts.
Own what’s in the photo
Last November, Instagram tested a new way to advertise items by posting photos, where the products shown could be purchased through online retailers.
Retailers using Instagram’s shoppable posts will gain access to analytics pertaining to photo shares, number of views, and insights into when product pages were clicked on.
At present, Bigcommerce boasts 50,000 small to mid-sized retailers, 2000 mid-market businesses, and over 25 Fortune 1000 companies.
Shoppable posts allow Bigcommerce to get around the restriction of not being alowed to add clickable links in post captions.
Instagram brings instant advertisement
Instagram has already brought its shoppable posts to US based retailers like JackThreads, Kate Spade, Warby Parker, and 17 others. These businesses can pay to display their own shoppable photos through Instagram.
The popular photo-sharing app has amassed two million advertisers, half of which having joined since March. Without leaving Instagram’s app, users can shop through staged photos of retail items.
At present, Bigcommerce’s integrated Instagram posts are only available to US retailers with an active Facebook Shop and deal in American currency.
With 80% of Instagram users living outside the US, with a little time it’s likely to be offered globally.
