Amazon has just launched a new product that challenges similar offerings from Square and PayPal.

Amazon Local Register is a card reader and mobile app that allows merchants to accept credit and debit card payments from their smartphone or tablet.
Amazon Local Register also comes with in-app Business Reports, analytics and tracking cash transactions.
Undercutting
Here's the real point of difference. Customers who sign up before October 31 will only be charged 1.75 per cent per transaction until January 1, 2016.
This pricing severely undercuts Square (2.75 per cent) and PayPal Here (2.7 per cent).
Amazon appears to be making an aggressive push for SMEs and individual merchants. It recently launched Amazon Local, a service allowing users to sign up for deals in their local city.
At the moment Amazon Local Register is only available in the US, but provides an intriguing snapshot into how e-retail is evolving.
