Pinterest has announced the imminent launch of Sections, a power user inspired feature allowing users to divide their board into various subgroups beneath a main topic.
Beta looks promising
Sections has been slowly rolled out only to select users, and may yet be refined before a wider roll out.
According to Pinterest the addition of sub-categories have been the number one user request for years, allowing more structure beneath one heading.
These new sub-sections can be set to either private or public, just like any any other regular Pinterest board feature.
Boards within boards
The new feature is designed to simply make the site more useful. The news was announced along side the company’s achievement of its 200 million user milestone.
Sections is meant to retain user time on site, engaging for longer lengths on Pinterest. More time users spend using boards, the more impressive metrics Pinterest has to show advertisers.
Only in beta at the moment, users are gradually being added on a regular basis with a largescale launch planned in the near future.
