In what was many Australians’ first week back at work, sport, celebrity, and the odd ninja popped up in twitter trending topics.

Beyonce and Jay-Z delivered a baby, whose name (Blue Ivy) was confirmed by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow (there was some confusion amongst fans that the little one was Ivy Blue).

Perth experienced shark season and Adelaide was much a-tweet about #ninjas.

Melbourne was mad for the Australian Open tennis and mad at Chef George Calombaris for his comments on workers’ penalty rates.

Sydney was keen to wish young singer Cody Simpson a Happy Birthday.

As for today, this editorial has Waleed Aly trending nationwide. Cricket is also strong across the country with #ausvind, #cricket and #WACA across the field. Louis Tomlinson of boy band One Direction is strong in Adelaide.
