Twitter-owned app Periscope has announced an update that lets you mute other users.
Silence is golden
While the live-streaming app and its rival Meerkat have proved popular since launching earlier this year, both can be very noisy places.
Now you can turn the virtual volume down by muting selected users.
Mutiny?
To mute a user, simply open their profile and select the button next to the "Following" icon.
This action means this users' content will still appear in your feed, but you'll no longer receive notifications every time they post a new stream.
As part of the update, users can now also watch streams live in their Safari web browser.
Maturing market
The update shows Periscope is keen on retaining users, as there's now more motivation to follow larger numbers of people. The app recently removed the need for users to have a Twitter account to sign up.
On the flip side, Meerkat recently rolled out an update allowing users to "hijack" live-streams of their friends.
Stay tuned as the battle for live-streaming heats up.
