Pinterest has been investing enormous resources into developing its search capabilities, and its efforts have started to pay off.
Its latest innovation however, is something I believe to be revolutionary. Pinterest has a new way to search for products using the smartphone camera.
How does it work?
To discover or buy new products first go to Pinterest search, then tap the visual search button. Then point your camera at products you're interested in, and Pinterest will automatically do a visual search based on what you're seeing.
Pinterest will populate the page with a selection of related objects, and you can tap on any to get recommendations for similar items.
Enhancing the user buying experience
Pinterest is also rolling out a new ‘shopping cart’ to enhance the user buying experience.
It will allow you to add any buyable product on Pinterest to your shopping cart, which is accessible on any other platform where your account active.
