If you can't innovate, renovate.
Traditional video calling wasn't enough for Facebook's liking, so they've updated Messenger with Snapchat-like live video calling.
Don't wait
Messenger added free video calls in April last year, but what they are calling 'Instant Video' is a more casual take.
Much like Snapchat's version, both users must be inside the conversation at the same time to take advantage of the feature.
The video button will pulse to indicate Instant Video is available, and once clicked a small video pop-up will appear over the top of the text conversation.
Join in
Only one user has to share video at any time, so if the second person is busy in a meeting or in a loud place, they can reply through text and their friend can still read it.
Instant Video is now rolling out globally.
