YouTube goes big, embraces 4K streaming

Is bigger really better? YouTube thinks so, as content creators can now stream in glorious 4K.

Bigger than Ben-Hur?

What does that mean exactly? That you can now broadcast with a resolution four times clearer than the standard 1080p.

While the update is being touted as a boon for the gaming community, YouTube points out the update is also aimed at live events, such as sports games, launches, and concerts.

Keeping up with the Zuckerberg's

4K gives YouTube another edge of arch rival Facebook in the ongoing race for user eyeballs. 

Yet considering many users access YouTube on mobile, the quality difference may be negligible. Especially if the larger files blow out buffering times.
